All Reiki Sessions Can Last From 45 to 60 min
What Is Reiki?
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words- Rei which means "God's wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy".
So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy".
It is also called "energy healing"
It works in a very similar way as acupressure, in that it brings the body into balance by removing blocked ‘chi’ or ‘energy’, but without the use of needles.
It is non-invasive and there are no side effects.
Reiki Induces a natural state of relaxation. The body is more capable of helping to heal itself when it is completely relaxed and healing energy can travel through it without hindrance.
Reiki can heal on the physical, mental and emotional levels and even at a distance.
A treatment takes about an hour to complete.
The client stays fully clothed and the practitioner
places hands on the client in a specific sequence.
The therapists' hands remain still during treatment
and may emanate heat, a calm, soothing feeling.
The sensation that Reiki produces is subtle but its effect penetrates deeply, thus accelerating and assisting in the healing process. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.
If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
What To Expect From Your Reiki Session
The World Wide Web has provided us with tons of information, and misinformation on what Reiki is and what it does.
Experiments conducted by Dr. Gary Schwartz, a researcher and professor out of the University of Arizona in Tucson,
are leaning toward electromagnetic energy being "the" energy we like to call "Prana", "chi" or as in Reiki, "Ki".
This energy is all around us. More enlightened beings have a very thick build up of it..halos!
Auras are also electromagnetic energy, but we won't get into auras right now!
Electromagnetic energy appears to aid in healing.
However, it can be difficult for this healing energy to get into body.
That's where a Reiki Therapist comes in.
We Reiki Therapists are hollow bamboos. We channel the energy through our hands into the client. When you make an appointment with us we will do an intake and ask questions to see if there are
areas you would like us to focus on.
Then, fully clothed except for shoes, you will lie down on my massage table and I will use essential
oil, to also aid in relaxation and healing.
Using hand placements and focusing along energy centers and channels in the body. The energy will flow and work on areas that are depleted of this vital force. Some clients sense either warmth or tingling or waves as the energy passes through the system. Some just fall asleep!
Sometimes one session is enough to balance the system so that your healing energy is working the way it should and that's that. In the case of more severe illness, more sessions may be required.
However, we leave that to the client. Some folks come back for what they call "tune-ups". Reiki can't hurt, so you can have it as often as you like.
Reiki is a "complimentary" therapy, meant to enhance and to be used with traditional western medicine.
